Gobi Manchurian is one of the most popular Manchurian dishes from Indo-Chinese cuisine. The Gobi means cauliflower and Manchurian means native or inhabitant of Manchurian which is a sweet tangy and slightly spicy sauce.

Ingredients needed are

  • Garlic and ginger paste                  1 tbsp
  • Coconut oil/Sunflower oil              As needed
  • Soya sauce                                        1 tsp
  • Pepper                                               1/2-1 tsp
  • Big onion                                           1-2 nos
  • Salt                                                      As needed
  • Capsicum                                           1/2-1 no.
  • Green chilli                                        2-3 nos.
  • Maida powder                                   1/4 cup
  • Tomato and chilli sauce                   1-2 tsp
  • Tomato                                                 1/2 no.
  • Cauliflower                                          1 Cup(Cleaned)
  • Turmeric powder                               1/4 tsp
  • Water                                                    As needed

Procedure

  1. Cut the cauliflower into small or medium florets. Clean the florets 2-3 times thoroughly. Drop them into hot water and add some turmeric powder, salt and let it boil for 3-4minutes. drain off the water completely and keep them aside.
  2. To a large mixing bowl, add Maida powder and convert it into a smooth free flowing batter by adding water little by little
  3. Place a Kadai or pan on flame and add some coconut oil to it. Once the oil is heat. Drop the boiled cauliflower florets into the batter. coat them well with the batter and carefully drop into the hot oil.
  4. Fry until it becomes crispy and keeps them aside.
  5. Place another pan or Kadai on medium flame. to this add coconut oil, ginger garlic paste, small size chopped onion, chopped capsicum, green chilli, tomatoes, salt, pepper powder and water as needed. Mix well and boil in high flame
  6. After boiling, transfer the fried cauliflower florets into it and mix thoroughly.
  7. To this add 2-3 tablespoon chilli sauce and tomato sauce 
  8. Toss to combine until all the florets are well coated with the sauce
  9. Garnish with some Coriander and Spring onion leaves and serve hot.
